Mission RCMP issued a 29-year-old man a driving prohibition after allegedly speeding through a school zone while impaired last week.

A 29-year-old man was issued a 90-day driving prohibition and had his vehicle impounded for a month after an impaired driving incident last Friday afternoon (June 21).

According to Mission RCMP,  a witness reported a silver Chevrolet Cruze driving erratically near Cherry Avenue and Cade Barr Street shortly after 3 p.m.

Police say the Cruze was on the wrong side of the road, ran through a red light, and sped through a school zone.

Mission RCMP found the vehicle on Lougheed Highway near Nelson Street and the driver showed "clear signs of impairment."  The 29-year-old failed a roadside screening device.

"Mission RCMP thank the witness that reported the driver, and encourage anyone who sees someone driving dangerously to call police," Mission RCMP said.
