The only difference between the two team's schedule is that the men visit the MacEwan Griffins to start 2025, while the women have the first weekend of 2025 off but they travel to Regina for games against the Cougars on Jan. 31 and Feb. 1.
The final home games occur when the Cascades host the Trinity Western University Spartans on Feb. 7 and teams conclude the regular season against the UBC Thunderbirds on Feb. 15.
The men finished last season at 7-17 and failed to make the playoffs. The women posted a record last season of 20-4 and fell in the bronze medal game to Alberta.
This year features a new playoff format that sees 10 teams qualify for the postseason. Playoffs begin with a best-of-three play-in series Feb. 21 to 23, featuring the seventh seed hosting the tenth seed and the eighth seed hosting the ninth seed. A best-of-three quarterfinal round follows from Feb. 28 to March 1, with a "Final Four" format for the semis and bronze/gold medal games taking place the following weekend.
All roads lead to the province of Manitoba for this yearโs U Sports national championships. The University of Manitoba hosts the women's tournament March 14 to 16 in Winnipeg, while Brandon University welcomes the men's tournament March 21 to 23. โ
