Work to reroute heavy truck traffic from downtown Mission begins on Wednesday (May 1) with delays expected for drivers.

According to a news release from the City of Mission, motorists can expect delays along Lougheed Highway (Highway 7) including the Murray Street overpass, between Glasgow Avenue and Catherwood Street.

The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure (MOTI) is kicking off construction work on Glasgow Avenue. The construction will have the shoulder closed and a traffic pattern change in effect.

Construction is expected to last through July 31.

The road improvements to reroute truck traffic were announced by the province in November.

Heavy commercial vehicles headed west will be rerouted from Highway 7 to Highway 11 via Glasgow Avenue and Horne Street rather than driving through the city centre.
