Northbound lanes of Abbotsford-Mission Highway closed due to crash

Collision occurred at intersection of Highway 11 and Harris Road

The northbound lanes of Highway 11 (the Abbotsford-Mission Highway) between Clayburn Road and Harris Road are closed Tuesday (July 9) due to a collision.

Const. Art Stele, media officer with the Abbotsford Police Department (APD), said patrol officers responded at 10:52 a.m. to the two-vehicle crash near the intersection of Highway 11 and Harris Road.

Two people have been taken to hospital, one with serious injuries and the other with minor injuries.

Stele said initial findings indicate that a crash in the southbound lanes caused one of the vehicles to swerve into oncoming northbound traffic, colliding with another vehicle before coming to a stop partially in a ditch.

Each vehicle was occupied only by the driver, he said.

The Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service is on site, and the northbound lanes are expected to be closed for quite some time.

Anyone with information is asked to call the APD at 604-859-5225.

The Mission Bridge is still accessible via the Harris Road intersection.
