Schedules, activities and biographical info for artists have been fully released for the 37th Mission Folk Music Festival.

The event is scheduled for July 26, 27 and 28 at Fraser River Heritage Park.

Festival artistic director Michelle Demers Shaevitz says the audience will have a passport to a world of music.

“This year, audiences will hear Indigenous throat singers (PIQSIQ) and bluegrass musicians (Jackson Hollow), the voices of powerful women, Trinidadian rhythms (Kobo Town), Swedish folk tunes (Frānder) – and lots more,” she said.

The 2024 edition welcomes artists worldwide with music from Canada, the United States and beyond.

Over 20 acts will perform at daytime stages and on the evening Main Stage. Highlights include Crys Matthews, Innu singer Shauit, Catherine MacLellan and Conor Gains.

“There’s music fully in the folk tradition as well as creative fusions with blues, jazz, rock, pop and other genres. There’s gospel, Americana, country-rock, indie – the variety of musical experiences in store knows no bounds,” a news release reads.

The festival kicks off Friday night (July 26) with the first main stage concert. Saturday and Sunday (July 27 and 28) will feature collaborative workshops, concerts and dances on four daytime stages and performance areas, showcasing artists on the evening Main Stage on both days.

Festival-goers can also participate in jams and sing-alongs, Wee Folks activities, join the Festival Choir, and jump into step dance and contra dance sessions.

The event will also host an artisan market with roughly 20 vendors, in addition to spaces for local non-profit and community-building services.  Food trucks and booths will offer a range of options and the Festival Bistro (beer garden) will offer shade and drinks.

On-site camping is available for an additional fee for those interested in a more immersive experience.
Tickets are available at Adult, Senior/Student and Youth age levels for the full weekend, one day and evenings only, with tickets free for those 12 and under.

Advance weekend tickets and passes range from $25 to $155 until July 25 and are available at www.missionfolkmusicfestival.ca.
