Mission Bridgehead Investment Corporation will see a change in leadership.
CEO Stacey Crawford and board chair Ryan Laurin have both resigned, Crawford confirmed with the Mission Record on Friday (Feb. 20).
Crawford said a combination of factors led to his resignation in January. His secondment from the City of Mission was up for renewal, which he says was among the contributing factors.
“The city’s making some changes and and then I think, probably most importantly, the foundational work had been done,” Crawford said.
Crawford was appointed CEO in October 2024. He said 2025 was about getting Bridgehead up and running with a corporate framework and governance guidelines in place.
“Being quasi-government in nature, it has to have a very structured framework to operate within. And in addition to the projects and other ancillary services we were providing — all of that was put in place. (It was) a very foundational year, which is something that I’m good at. And as they transition now into more fully commercialized activities, it probably makes sense to look at someone who has a skillset that probably better meets those needs going forward,” he said.
Crawford will return to his role as economic development director with the City of Mission while serving as a staff liaison with Bridgehead to help with the transition.
He said the transition back to the city aligns with the end of his secondment agreement. Crawford will be working the development services team.
“I’ll be assisting with not only the traditional business retention and expansion attraction activities, but also with some of the major projects in development services for the time being,” he said.
Crawford said the Bridgehead board will play a critical role in selecting its new leadership. He said Bridgehead will be searching for board members over the next few weeks.
“There’s been a few board changes and that’s nothing nefarious … it’s a couple of changes, but nothing you wouldn’t see in any other board. Just unfortunate timing as I left as well,” he said.
Bridgehead development manager Bindi Watts will be leading the corporation’s efforts until a new CEO is hired, Crawford said.
Mission Bridgehead Investment Corporation is a municipal development corporation formed in 2024 with the City of Mission as the sole shareholder. It works at arms-length from council.
